My Everyday Makeup

I’ve tried a number of drugstore foundations over the past few years, but they never felt nice on my skin and because of that, I was convinced that my skin is too sensitive for makeup. So I went years without wearing makeup except for special occasions, like my 2012 diploma graduation ceremony. Even then, I wanted to take it off so badly the minute I put it on.

Back in January I went to Sephora and asked the beauty advisors there on the type of foundation that could work with me. I told them specifically that I didn’t want any liquid foundations because I didn’t want to spend so much money on something that I may not end up liking. Long story short, I found THE ONE. And with that purchase I’ve started to really like makeup. Read on for a list of products I use on a daily basis:

Tarte BB Tinted Treatment Primer in medium: I was told that I could wear this on its own or as a base before my foundation. But as of late, I only apply it on my nose, sides of my nose, under my eyes and my chin. I feel by doing that it gives more coverage without making it look or feel cakey. I also get to skip concealer!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation in light-medium neutral: I can’t compare it to anything else but I love this foundation. It’s a powder foundation, but it still packs a lot of coverage. You can even build it up if you really want a full coverage. It’s lightweight, and it lasts throughout the day too. I normally touch it up a little bit around noon.

Sleek MakeUP Blush in flamingo: I think I got this a few weeks ago and I love it. It’s so pigmented — the first time I used it I swiped the colour with my brush and I looked like a clown. I only need to lightly dip my brush in the colour and it creates this beautiful and natural pink blush.

Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipstick in melted fuchsia: I got this 2 weeks ago and I’ve used it every day since. I naturally stay away from hot pink shades for my lips (I usually go for dark colours), but I’ve wanted this particular shade ever since I saw swatches of it online. I’m glad I finally got it, it’s beautiful. I think it suits my skin tone very well.

MAC Satin Lipstick in captive: I just got this a few days ago and I’m really excited about it. It’s the perfect ‘my lips but better’ colour that I can wear on a daily basis. The only negative thing I’d say about it is the price tag, but I guess considering how many lipsticks I have on rotation currently, this could last me for a while before I decide to get a new one.

I just bought that Sephora bronzer so I’m not gonna comment on it just yet as I haven’t tried it out. It feels awesome to finally be able to purchase things with my own hard-earned money. But I think it’s time to lay off shopping… until my next payday 😛

  1. Yessssss makeup posts!

I find it crazy that you don’t use liquid foundation – I can’t go without it! Though, at the moment I’m using a CC cream, but I do apply it all over my face, so it still counts.

Definitely share more posts like this!

  2. I spent ages, when I was younger, trying to find a foundation that I liked. I finally settled on Dream Matte Mousse, as I feel like it has a soft finish. I’ve realised now though, that I probably wasn’t fussy about the type of foundation I used, I just really don’t like having a lot of products on my face. Most days I won’t wear makeup at the minute, and when I do, I don’t bother with foundation. It tends to make me feel like my skin can’t breathe. Maybe one day I’ll find a product that I like the feel of, though.
